Who is Greyrock?
Greyrock is a leading global, technology company that has developed and validated distributed processes for the direct conversion of nearly any low value and waste gas streams into premium, synthetic diesel fuel, gasoline, kerosene, and other premium products.
What technological advances have made Greyrock today’s industry leader?
Greyrock has developed, patented and validated innovative technologies such as:
Our ground breaking GreyCat™ catalyst that directly produces premium, synthetic fuels from syngas. Competing technologies must first produce a Fischer-Tropsch (F-T) type wax product that requires expensive and complex refining/upgrading processes for conversion to liquid fuels (See OUR VIDEO for more insight).
Innovative, modular system designs and process control software that has been designed to operate the Greyrock plants efficiently, reliably and safely.
The production of next generation, low emission diesel fuel that features high cetane, excellent lubricity and can be stored for many years without degradation.
What types of feedstocks can Greyrock plants convert to fuels?
Natural gas, natural gas liquids (NGLs), flare gas, industrial waste gas, and other waste hydrocarbons.
What are some types of waste gases that Greyrock is converting to fuels?
One of Greyrock’s strategic focus areas is the deployment of plants for the direct conversion of flare gas to liquid fuels. The World Bank recently selected Greyrock as top technology for converting flare gas to liquid fuels.
How are Greyrock plants designed and deployed?
Greyrock plants are designed as modular units which can be easily transported to a plant site and assembled quickly. All of the equipment used in the unit processes have been designed to meet industry standards.
How much land does a Greyrock plant require?
Greyrock plants vary in size and the land requirements for each size can be found on the Plants page.
Can Greyrock plants be deployed in cold climates?
Greyrock plants can handle cold weather environments easily with our add-on cold weather package.
How much fuel can the Greyrock plants produce?
Greyrock manufactures and deploys plants that are modular in design and easily transportable to nearly any location. Greyrock’s standardized plants have been designed to produce as low as 5 barrels/day and can be scaled up to any size.
What utilities do the Greyrock plants require?
The Greyrock plants typically require power, water, and natural gas (or other feedstock).
Are Greyrock’s synthetic fuels cost competitive with petroleum based fuels?
Since Greyrock’s distributed plants have much lower capital and operating costs that current F-T based technologies, Greyrock is able to produce fuels that are cost competitive with petroleum fuels produced from crude oil at current low crude prices.
Can the Greyrock diesel fuels be used directly in engines?
The premium diesel fuel has high cetane, no sulfur and aromatics, and excellent lubricity. It can be used directly, or as a blend with petroleum diesel, to improve engine performance in terms of reduced emissions, less engine wear and tear, and better fuel economy. For example, just a 20% blend of Greyrock diesel reduces emissions of particulate matter, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and carbon dioxide by a blended average around 20% when used in light-duty and heavy-duty diesel vehicles while also improving fuel economy.
The gasoline blendstock, much like straight run gasoline from a refinery, is deficient in octane so it must be blended in with higher octane components to make a finished gasoline product.
